Why this work matters

When the power acts up, you want the real answer

A dead outlet the night before a holiday dinner. A breaker that trips every time the AC and dryer run together. A light switch that's warm to the touch. Small electrical symptoms turn into real disruptions fast — and they're rarely as simple as they look.

The repair that lasts is the one that starts with the actual cause. We trace the circuit from the device back to the panel instead of swapping parts until the symptom hides, so the problem stays fixed and your home stays safe.

The work, up close

Diagnosing the whole circuit

Most 'broken' outlets are really a failed GFCI upstream, a loose neutral on a shared run, or a breaker worn out from repeated overloads. We test the path the power takes, find where it breaks down, and show you what we found before we change anything — so the repair addresses the reason it failed, not just the result.

What we think through

What we check first

Every repair visit starts with the same honest look at what's actually happening on the circuit.

  1. 1Loose connections — the leading cause of warm outlets, flickering, and intermittent failures.
  2. 2Overloaded circuits — too many high-draw devices on one run, tripping breakers under load.
  3. 3Aging safety devices — GFCIs and AFCIs that have quietly stopped protecting without tripping.

The people behind the work

The crew that shows up

When you call Nor'Easter, you're not getting dispatch roulette. A local crew shows up, listens to what you've noticed, and explains what they find in plain language — no jargon, no upsell. Most small repairs are wrapped up in a single visit, and we'll tell you honestly when something can wait.

Questions customers actually ask

Repairs & Troubleshooting FAQs

My breaker trips only sometimes — is that urgent?

Intermittent tripping usually means a circuit is overloading or a loose connection is generating heat. It's safer to have it inspected than to keep resetting it.

Can you replace just one outlet?

Absolutely — no job is too small. A single worn outlet or switch is a common quick visit.

Do you charge to diagnose the problem?

We'll explain what we find and give you an upfront price for the repair before any work begins.

Do you repair outdoor outlets and landscape lighting?

Yes — including weatherproof GFCI replacement and damaged exterior fixture repair.

Are you licensed for this work?

Yes. Nor'Easter Electric holds NJ Electrical License #13756 and carries liability and worker insurance.

Before you call

Quick checks before you call

A few safe things to try first — if any of these don't fix it, that's our job.

  • Flip the tripped breaker fully off, then back on — a half-reset breaker will trip again immediately.
  • Press the Test button, then Reset, on any GFCI outlet nearby — one tripped GFCI can kill power to everything downstream.
  • Plug a different device into the same outlet to rule out a bad cord or appliance.
  • Check whether other outlets or lights on the same circuit are also out — that tells us if it's one device or the whole run.
